My post was picked up and published on DNA’s blog section today. I wasn’t asked for permission, so the fact that they gave credit means nothing.
What ethics is this? I am not linking up to the post because I am clearly not in it for publicity. All I am asking for is an explanation and taking it down on the website.
Blog posts are up in public space. That means they can be linked to when you write original content. Not taken and published without permission. I am sorry – not flattered. I am not interested in money or publicity. Happy to be amateur, thanks a lot….if this is the ethical state of the industry…!!!
Editor-in-chief of DNA – Mr. Aditya Sinha, I have emailed the relevant email ids I found, have posted to your FB account to give you the opportunity to take it down. There’s no email id to the editor – a work email to use.
This is not acceptable. All of it!
Edited to add: They did redress the issue by publishing an apology in the Jan 4th edition of the paper. They also emailed me. Mr. Sinha responded immediately and has followed through as promised. I am hopeful that they ensure all permissions are obtained from now on – their attitude does indicate interest in redressing what seems to be an honest mistake. The link to the apology is: Jan 4th, page 4. Thank you, DNA for this.
